the drive down from Stampede Trail was brief and beautiful

took the 15 mile drive out to the Savage River

this is about 16 miles south of where Chris would have crossed

this section is certainly crossable

saw this guy with the full rack

looking across the Savage deeper into the park where only buses go

down the canyon to the north

interesting rock formation

the money shot of Mt Denali as it's known inside the state.

Most know it as Mt. McKinley over 20k feet high. This is from the South viewpoint, about 50 miles from where I was inside the park.
